Made an impromptu stop at the new home of Iron City Beer. We’ve been curious about this palce for a couple years now - having watched its construction as we passed by on 28. Not knowing if it was open to the public, we decided to check it out. Stopped in the Gift Shop to ask and we learned you can take guided tours and tastings Th-Sat. We didn’t book a tour, but were told to go through the visitor center and we could see where the beer is brewed, the events center, and there’s a bar on the second level. The bar features beers brewed by Pittsburgh Brewing Co, and whiskey made by the onsite Iron City Distilling. This place is just beautiful!! It wasn’t very busy when we arrived, so it gave us an opportunity to check it out, and it is very impressive! On Saturday, they’re open til 4pm, if you are interested in checking it out. Book your tour online, if you’d also like to do that. We will definitely go back to take the tour and learn the history of Iron City Beer. And while Terry isn’t a beer drinker, I am, so I had the very fresh IC Light on draft…Terry opted for Surfside Iced Tea with vodka.
